REASONS FOR PRE-SEEN CASE STUDY EXAM MATERIAL
The new ICAN case study syllabus has made provision for part of the case story (about 70%) to be available to Case study students two weeks before the exam without the case requirements and the remaining story including the case requirements (about 30%) will be presented to students on the exam day to make it a complete case.
But the question students keep on asking me is that "Why are we going to be given large part of the case story before the exam", today I will give you the main reasons why large junk of the case story will be sent to students before the exam.
1. The volume of the case story: The last syllabus normally comes with about 10-15 pages of case story, unfortunately, the new syllabus will come with about 30 or more pages of case story. This is why part of it will be given to you for you to properly study, understand and make further research on the company in the case if possible.
2. Time factor: Even before the new syllabus, time has always been the constraint most student battle with in the exam and the 4 hours has never been enough for student to carry out proper and complete analysis on the company. The new syllabus made it worse by presenting about 30 or more pages of case which means the 4hrs will not be enough for you to even read and understand the case talk less of performing analysis and that is why most of the story will be presented to you before the exam comes.
3. Executive summary: This is another reason because you have to complete the whole report for you to be able write a good and complete executive summary which carries 20 marks. Getting part of the case will help you to achieve this.
This is why we do organize Intensive Class where we help students understand the pre-seen case exhibit by exhibit and also point out certain requirements they should prepare for in the exam.
Our eBook is the sole requirement to Intensive class.
